DP World Tour Championship 2018 The DP World Tour Championship, one of the biggest events in Dubai’s sporting calendar, is back for its tenth edition from the 15-18 November. Part of the European Tour, and the thrilling climax to the European Tour Race to Dubai, this golfing tournament has seen some of the world’s best golfers competing here in the UAE, with past winners including Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm. The tournament has a prize fund of $8,000,000, and you can expect some tense scenes when the athletes battle it out on the course to take home the trophy.
Sole DXB returns later this year for its sixth edition. The event is a celebration of street culture, encompassing everything from fashion and music to art and sport. It started out back in 2012, as a one-day event dedicated to sneakers, but has grown and grown since then, playing host to film premieres, art exhibitions, concerts, and more. Some of the world’s biggest brands have taken part in past events, including Adidas, Nike, Fred Perry, Stussy, and more. Attendees have also been able to see artists such as Skepta, Kano, and Mobb Deep take to the stage, as well as a line-up of Dubai-based bands and DJs. Dubai Muscle Show The region’s leading fitness and bodybuilding show Dubai Muscle Show is the Middle East’s leading international fitness and bodybuilding show. The exhibition is the best place for fitness enthusiasts to meet with some of the stars of the industry and get expert advice, as well as learn about the latest services and trends. There’ll also be competitions, giveaways, and live demonstrations of new products. The two-day event will also feature a line-up of competitions and tournaments in boxing, bodybuilding, mixed martial arts, and more. There are more than 600 athletes expected to attend from all over the world, including Eddie Hall, the winner of last year’s World’s Strongest Man contest.
Al Marmoom Ultramarathon Elite ultra runners from around the world have Dubai marked in their diaries from 11-15 December with the Al Marmoom Ultramarathon offering three gruelling distances to choose from: the world’s longest desert run at 270km, plus continuous 100km and 50km ultra runs. Competing for a total prize purse of US$60,000, this super challenging self-sufficient event covers five stages and includes tents and water, and breathtaking scenery courtesy of the Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve.
2019 Ironman 70.3 Dubai Calling all long-distance athletes. Mark a date in your diary for Dubai’s next annual Ironman event as the city prepares to host a Half Ironman in February 2019 with participants braving the Gulf waters, Arabian dunes and city streets. Following on from the success of the 2018 event, Ironman 70.3 Dubai will once again criss-cross the city, with athletes kicking off this gruelling back-to-back event close to Umm Suqeim Park. Hitting the water first, with a 1.9km swim in the shadow of Burj Al Arab, followed by a 90km bike ride and finishing off with a 21.1km run deep into the desert dunes, catch all the excitement from the sidelines or sign up to participate and even qualify for the Ironman World Championship. Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships 2019 The annual Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships will return in 2019, with world-class players expected to wow crowds at this unmissable sporting event. Past highlights have included the legendary Roger Federer winning three times in a row between 2003-2005. Other tennis greats such as Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and the oft-considered greatest of all time, Venus Williams, have also won here.
