The World of the Hunger Games is the latest attraction to open up at Motiongate Dubai, in the Lionsgate Zone. It’s the world’s first theme park zone inspired by the Hunger Games trilogy written by Suzanne Collins, and the film franchise starring Jennifer Lawrence. There are two new rides in the Hunger Games area. The Capitol Bullet Train is a 1,870-foot-long rollercoaster, which reaches speeds of up to 50mph. The Panem Aerial Tour, meanwhile, is more sedate – it’s a flight simulator ride that takes guests on a tour of the world of Panem. Screens in both of the rides show messages from some of the films’ characters, including Caesar Flickerman (played by Stanley Tucci) and Effie Trinket (played by Elizabeth Banks), filmed especially for the park. In addition to rides, visitors to the World of the Hunger Games will be able to enjoy Coal Miners’ Clash, a live show in the streets of the park, which sees the miners of District 12 coming together for a creative high-energy musical show. WETEX 2018 Discover the latest renewable energy developments The 20th Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition is set to take place from the 23-25 October. The three-day exhibition will showcase the latest developments in conventional and renewable energy from around the world, as well as give visitors the chance to network and make business deals with fellow industry professionals. The event will also include free-to-attend seminars and talks led by industry experts, who’ll be discussing developments and the latest research on water, energy and the environment. All attendees will also receive a certificate after each seminar.

Annual Radiology Meeting The Middle East’s leading radiology event The Annual Radiology Meeting is set to return for its third edition from 31 October to 2 November. The region’s leading radiology event, the exhibition and conference will showcase cutting-edge technology and research. A line-up of some of the world’s top doctors and professors will be sharing their knowledge and expertise, and covering topics such as Cardiac Imaging and Emergency Radiology. There will also be seminars and workshops, and a chance for attendees to gain a CME certification.

Yogafest Dubai Media City Amphitheatre is the al fresco location for this year’s Yogafest long weekend, which takes place from 15-17 November with a jam-packed schedule of free-to-attend yoga sessions, meditation circles and yoga-related activities for fans of all ages. The festival begins on Thursday evening in the meditation tent, and continues with two full days of sessions led by some of Dubai’s best-known yoga and meditation practitioners along with visiting guest teachers. Healthy food and exciting retail spaces round out this holistic weekend festival.

DP World Tour Championship 2018 The DP World Tour Championship, one of the biggest events in Dubai’s sporting calendar, is back for its tenth edition from the 15-18 November. Part of the European Tour, and the thrilling climax to the European Tour Race to Dubai, this golfing tournament has seen some of the world’s best golfers competing here in the UAE, with past winners including Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm. The tournament has a prize fund of $8,000,000, and you can expect some tense scenes when the athletes battle it out on the course to take home the trophy.

The region’s leading education show The Gulf Education and Training Exhibition, or GETEX, returns from 14-16 November. The event is a chance for schools, colleges and educational institutes to reach out to Dubai’s aspiring students, and for students to learn about what educational opportunities are available. Each year, the exhibition attracts more than 35,000 students, and GETEX focuses on all aspects of education, from residential schools to student counselling. The three-day event also features a Counsellors Forum, for Counsellors to meet and learn from fellow professionals. There will also be a line-up of seminars led by representatives from local and international schools, covering everything from children’s healthcare to Master’s Degree programs.  

In honour of Oman National Day, special events will be taking place throughout the city where both residents and visitors can get into the celebratory spirit. Middle East Organic & Natural Products Expo The only event of its kind in the Middle East The Middle East Organic & Natural Products Expo is the only dedicated trade fair of its kind in the region. International and regional companies will be showcasing more than two thousand of their latest products and services. All sorts of organic and natural products are represented at the event, with sectors dedicated to food and beverages, beauty, the environment, and more. The event has been running for the past fifteen years, and last year’s event saw more than 6000 visitors. Attendees can expect three days of networking opportunities with fellow professionals, as well as educational sessions, talks, and seminars led by international experts.

University of Dubai-hosted conference returns to the emirate Organised by the Centre for Research & Consultancy at University of Dubai in collaboration with Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry and an academic consortia of 21 UAE based and AACSB/EQUIS accredited international universities, the second annual International Conference on Advances in in Business, Management & Law offers five conference tracks, networking opportunities and an awards programme. Delegates will hear from experts in various fields covering a wide-ranging cross-section of industry sectors and topics from entrepreneurship, leadership, law and Islamic finance to marketing, e-commerce, supply chain, big data and innovation. A Best PhD Papers Award will be announced for each conference track and published as part of the conference proceedings.
