The World of the Hunger Games The World of the Hunger Games is the latest attraction to open up at Motiongate Dubai, in the Lionsgate Zone. It’s the world’s first theme park zone inspired by the Hunger Games trilogy written by Suzanne Collins, and the film franchise starring Jennifer Lawrence. There are two new rides in the Hunger Games area. The Capitol Bullet Train is a 1,870-foot-long rollercoaster, which reaches speeds of up to 50mph. The Panem Aerial Tour, meanwhile, is more sedate – it’s a flight simulator ride that takes guests on a tour of the world of Panem. Screens in both of the rides show messages from some of the films’ characters, including Caesar Flickerman (played by Stanley Tucci) and Effie Trinket (played by Elizabeth Banks), filmed especially for the park. In addition to rides, visitors to the World of the Hunger Games will be able to enjoy Coal Miners’ Clash, a live show in the streets of the park, which sees the miners of District 12 coming together for a creative high-energy musical show. Sole DXB returns later this year for its sixth edition. The event is a celebration of street culture, encompassing everything from fashion and music to art and sport. It started out back in 2012, as a one-day event dedicated to sneakers, but has grown and grown since then, playing host to film premieres, art exhibitions, concerts, and more. Some of the world’s biggest brands have taken part in past events, including Adidas, Nike, Fred Perry, Stussy, and more. Attendees have also been able to see artists such as Skepta, Kano, and Mobb Deep take to the stage, as well as a line-up of Dubai-based bands and DJs. Al Marmoom Ultramarathon Elite ultra runners from around the world have Dubai marked in their diaries from 11-15 December with the Al Marmoom Ultramarathon offering three gruelling distances to choose from: the world’s longest desert run at 270km, plus continuous 100km and 50km ultra runs. Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival 2019 .The Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival is set to return in February 2019, for its 17th edition. In 2019, the festival will take place over 10 days, with performances from local and international jazz and blues artists at venues throughout the city, before the main event takes place over three days at Dubai Media City Amphitheatre. The 2018 edition saw three international acts headlining the festival – Duran Duran, John Legend, and Ricky Martin.
