‘The Permanent’ Exhibition at SVENM

On 17 March, Alserkal Avenue’s boutique design space SVENM will unveil The Permanent, an exhibition featuring British-German duo Sonia Brewin and Sven Mueller. These paintings are created in mirrored pairs, forging a tension between form, colour, abstraction and originality. They explore the dichotomy between the function of institutional display and what the French cultural theorist Baudrillard coined the ‘miracle of buying’.

Brewin and Mueller graduated from The Slade and Hochschule Der Kunste Berlin. Their works are part of prestigious private collections, including The Prince of Wales and BBC. They are prolific collaborators who are inspired by diverse influences like crime boss Joe Colombo, Japanese architect Fumihiko Maki, novelist James Baldwin and more.
