This new show at Children’s City, the educational theme park in the heart of Creek Park, aims to both entertain and educate the youth of the UAE. A daily show, which takes place in Children’s City’s state-of-the-art planetarium, takes audiences on an exciting journey through the human body, where they’ll also learn about friendship along the way. Franco Dragone, the mastermind behind shows like The House of Dancing Water in Macau and Le Reve in Las Vegas, has created a show unlike any other in Dubai- La Perle. Dubai’s first resident show, La Perle will run for at least the next 10 years, with 10 performances a week taking place twice a night in a purpose-built theatre in the heart of Al Habtoor City. The aqua theatre uses state-of-the-art technology that produces waterfalls, torrents and rain on a floor that floods and drains within seconds. Expect to see 65 world-class performers from 23 countries performing breathtaking and extraordinary acts including acrobatics, contortion, flying, diving and even motorcycles defying gravity. 2019 Ironman 70.3 Dubai Calling all long-distance athletes. Mark a date in your diary for Dubai’s next annual Ironman event as the city prepares to host a Half Ironman in February 2019 with participants braving the Gulf waters, Arabian dunes and city streets. Following on from the success of the 2018 event, Ironman 70.3 Dubai will once again criss-cross the city, with athletes kicking off this gruelling back-to-back event close to Umm Suqeim Park. Hitting the water first, with a 1.9km swim in the shadow of Burj Al Arab, followed by a 90km bike ride and finishing off with a 21.1km run deep into the desert dunes, catch all the excitement from the sidelines or sign up to participate and even qualify for the Ironman World Championship. Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival 2019 .The Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival is set to return in February 2019, for its 17th edition. In 2019, the festival will take place over 10 days, with performances from local and international jazz and blues artists at venues throughout the city, before the main event takes place over three days at Dubai Media City Amphitheatre. The 2018 edition saw three international acts headlining the festival – Duran Duran, John Legend, and Ricky Martin. Past years have seen megastars like Tom Jones, Kool & The Gang, and Mariah Carey take to the stage, but the 2019 line-up is yet to be announced. Watch this space for more details.
Gulfood The world’s largest annual food trade show Gulfood is the world’s largest food trade show, and it’s set to return to Dubai World Trade Centre for its 24th edition from 17-21 February. More than 97,000 visitors attended the 2018 event, and there were also more than 5000 exhibitors from around the world. The four-day event will feature international brands showcasing their latest food and beverage products and services. Visitors will be able to meet with suppliers, sample new foods, and learn about the latest culinary trends. The Gulfood Conference will also feature a line-up of industry leaders giving talks on everything from public health to the latest food manufacturing technology.
