The World of the Hunger Games is the latest attraction to open up at Motiongate Dubai, in the Lionsgate Zone. It’s the world’s first theme park zone inspired by the Hunger Games trilogy written by Suzanne Collins, and the film franchise starring Jennifer Lawrence. There are two new rides in the Hunger Games area. The Capitol Bullet Train is a 1,870-foot-long rollercoaster, which reaches speeds of up to 50mph. The Panem Aerial Tour, meanwhile, is more sedate – it’s a flight simulator ride that takes guests on a tour of the world of Panem. Screens in both of the rides show messages from some of the films’ characters, including Caesar Flickerman (played by Stanley Tucci) and Effie Trinket (played by Elizabeth Banks), filmed especially for the park. In addition to rides, visitors to the World of the Hunger Games will be able to enjoy Coal Miners’ Clash, a live show in the streets of the park, which sees the miners of District 12 coming together for a creative high-energy musical show. ITU Plenipotentiary Conference The communications technology event comes to Dubai for the first time The ITU is the International Telecommunications Union, a United Nations agency that specialises in issues concerning information and communications technology. The Plenipotentiary Conference is the organisation’s key decision-making event, and determines the ITU’s activities over the coming months. This new show at Children’s City, the educational theme park in the heart of Creek Park, aims to both entertain and educate the youth of the UAE. A daily show, which takes place in Children’s City’s state-of-the-art planetarium, takes audiences on an exciting journey through the human body, where they’ll also learn about friendship along the way. Adapt to Survive: Notes from the Future at Concrete Following its showing at London’s Hayward Gallery, and a gallery to gallery international collaboration, Concrete at Alserkal Avenue will bring the seven artist-strong group exhibition ‘Adapt to Survive: Notes from the Future’ to Dubai from 7-21 November. This septet of international artists have imagined how our world might look and feel in the future, engaging with the idea that adaptation is necessary for survival to present films, sculpture and text-based works that explore ideas of change and hybrid forms of architecture, biology, technology, and language. The line-up of artists includes Ann Lislegaard, Julian Charriere, Rainer Ganahl,  Marguerite Humeau, Bedwyr Williams, Andreas Angelidakis and Youmna Chlala.  

Aesthetic Dental Facial Cosmetic Conference The dental event returns for its 10th edition The Aesthetic Dental Facial Cosmetic Conference returns this November for its 10th edition, and is set to cover all of the latest trends in aesthetic dentistry, as well as give professionals insights into new technologies and services. GITEX Technology Week 2018 The technology event returns for its 38th edition This October, GITEX Technology Week returns to Dubai World Trade Centre for its 38th edition. The 5-day exhibition showcases some of the latest products and innovations from the world of technology, and brands from all over the world are set to take part. For the 2018 edition, the exhibition will shine a spotlight on four major technological sectors – Smart Cities, AR and VR, Internet of Things, and Smart Manufacturing. Yogafest Dubai Media City Amphitheatre is the al fresco location for this year’s Yogafest long weekend, which takes place from 15-17 November with a jam-packed schedule of free-to-attend yoga sessions, meditation circles and yoga-related activities for fans of all ages. The festival begins on Thursday evening in the meditation tent, and continues with two full days of sessions led by some of Dubai’s best-known yoga and meditation practitioners along with visiting guest teachers.
